A Few Tips For Avoiding Storm Damage:

• Make sure your gutters and downspouts are free of debris. Also, make sure your local street drains are clear. Storms can bring heavy rainfall and making sure that your water management systems are clear and working will help avoid the potiential for water damage.
• Power outages are also normal in bad storms. If you have a sump pump you want to make sure that you have an alternate power source such as a battery backup or generator to ensure that any excess water can be removed correctly.
• If you have a basement, make sure that you have everything up off of the ground, preferably in plastic storage totes. In the event that your home does take on water, this will protect your possetions!
• Pack up or secure your outdoor furniture so that heavy winds cannot blow it around.
• Have your roof inspected every year to make sure that you don’t loose shingles.
